Hotel De Ville is the French term for a City Hall, in Sfax it is now known as the Baladiya.
The ground floor rooms are given over to a museum exhibiting items from earlier ages, as far back as the Roman towns of
Taparura (Sfax) and Thanae (Thyna) and prehistoric as well as Byzantine Christian artefacts fromm Lariscus (Skhira).
